Tragedy struck Saturday night in Lagos as a vehicle plunged into the Mekwe River around the Bonny Camp area of Lagos.

Although no death has been reported, the Spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye said two occupants of the vehicle includes a man and his pregnant wife.

Farinloye told Daily Sun on phone that the man was able to survive the incident as he came out on his own alive, but as at the time of filing this reports the woman who was alleged to be pregnant was still trapped inside the vehicle.

He said that efforts are on by all the rescue agencies, include the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the fire department, to rescue the woman.

The incident has called huge traffic on the Ahmadu Bello way in Victoria Island as some road users have decided to divert to other road to avoid the bottle neck.
