In a bid to deal with ‎the issue of incest, Bola Akande, daughter of stage icon, Ishola Ogunshola popularly known as Dr. Isho Pepper, has rolled out a movie entitled, Broken, which is set to premiere tomorrow, Saturday June 24, 2017 at Ozone Cinema, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos.

According to Akande, Broken explores the topic from the point of view of a victim. “Incest is a taboo in African culture, a topic that is hardly talked about, making it look as though it doesn’t happen. Yet a large number of people are victims. Broken, the movie, explores this topic from the point of view of a victim,” she explains.

Broken tells the story of Morenike who was being constantly sexually abused by a family member since the age of 12. With incest being an abomination in the society, she keeps her pain to herself, and at the same time desperately striving to gain the attention of her runaway father. But one day, after her 17th birthday, Morenike strikes back. What actually happened? How does Morenike overcome the monster of her childhood? It is all in Broken, which premieres tomorrow but will be in cinemas across the country in August.
