The Nigerian military has withheld the international passports of Ahmed U. Bolori and Aisha Wakil, who were recently declared wanted, before granting them administrative bail after they had made themselves available.
The duo were reportedly granted bail after they met certain conditions, including submission of their international passports.
The army, early in the week, declared Bolori and Wakil wanted, alongside Ahmed Salkida, a journalist, following the recent video released by the Boko Haram Islamic sect, where the leader, Shekau, demanded the release of its members in the custody of the Federal Government, in exchange for the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.
The Boko Haram leader, who showed some of the abducted school girls in the video said they would be willing to negotiate with the Federal Government through Sakilda, the journalist famous for his rare access to the sect, Bolori, based in Maiduguri and Wakil, a lawyer. He warned that the sect will not recognise or honour any negotiation on its behalf by anybody else.
While Sakilda, who is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has promised to return to the country to submit himself to the military authority, Bolori and Wakil submitted themselves willingly to the military authorities.
Premium Times reported that Wakil was transferred from the State Security Service headquarters, on Tuesday, from where she was allowed to go home on Wednesday night. She was said to have been treated well by the Nigerian security operatives.
Meanwhile, the military, on Tuesday, said it only invited the trio “to discuss new strategies as the war against Boko Haram gradually winds down.”
