In line with the Federal Government’s initiative to transform the agricultural sector into a cash cow, a farmer, Lawal Babatope Alex, has launched FlexFarmer initiative in Ogun State.

Speaking with newsmen recently, Lawal said FlexFarmer is an agricultural initiative set up by his company, Flextree Limited which allows individuals who do not have prior knowledge of agriculture to invest in the sector because the initiative gives farmers a flexible approach to farming.

According to Lawal, there are two stages involved in the scheme Pre-planting/Planting Operations and Post Planting Operations. He disclosed that Flextree would provide free land for planting in addition to training participants in both practical and theoretical aspects of farming and give regular update and progress reports, harvest, store and also market finished products.

Lawal added that under the pre-planting/ planting operations stage, his organization will provide one acre of land to every Flexfarmer upon registration online.

He said: “All one is required to pay for is service charges to cover basic services and utilities such as irrigation and security among others.

“Upon becoming a FlexFarmer, you are given a tour of the land and at each stage of the process you are invited to see the ongoing activity while regular reports are sent to show progress and decisions are made with your knowledge. It is a secondary form of income which has the capacity of surpassing your primary source of income. Also, you need no prior knowledge of agriculture to participate in this scheme,” Lawal concluded.
