•Threatens fire for fire if anything happens to detained activist

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) yesterday alleged there is a plot to kill  its leader, Mr. Nnmadi Kanu by  security agents and the Federal Government  through a sniper.

The group alleged that it has discovered a plot by the  Federal Government, Department of State Security (DSS) and three governors from Southeastern states to eliminate Kanu when next he appears in court.

A statement by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Emma Powerful alleged a meeting was convened where the plot was hatched. The meeting was allegedly chaired by a top shot in the presidency and in attendance were leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC), the three governors from the Southeast and some senators from the same zone.

“The plan was perfected in the meeting and designed to be carried out by a killer squad known as snipers. In line with this, we made this known before now, at a  time they perfected plans to kill him through a calculated motor accident, but, now, they have devised another means of using snipers.

“We, IPOB worldwide, will not take it easy with these people if anything happens to our leader and we are calling on the international community, Amnesty International, all relevant human rights organisations, all world religious leaders, African Union, United Nations and all the lovers of freedom to prevail on the Nigerian government and DSS to allow our leader face the concocted charges they leveled against him.

“This is because, if anything happens to him, they will know that we are committed and determined towards the restoration of Biafra. To be fore warned, is to be fore armed; DSS and Nigeria be aware,” the group warned.

IPOB recently threatened to cripple Nigeria through series of protests if Kanu ,who has been in detention since October 2015 is not released.  The group wondered why the Federal Government was still holding on to Kanu and two others since they don’t have reasonable witnesses against them in the court.

IPOB blamed President Muhammadu Buhari’s advisers and alleged that they deliberately misled him within the ambit of the law which led to the continued detention of its leader, even after the court has granted him bail.
