Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asuquo Amba, has announced that the command would adopt the Whistleblowing policy of the Federal Government to uncover hidden arms and ammunition kept by criminals across the state.

Yenagoa had been gripped by armed attacks by suspected armed robbers, cultists and sea-pirates in recent weeks which raised serious concerns for the Police hierarchy in the state especially the sophisticated weapons being used by the bandits

Amba, who disclosed this over the weekend said it was necessary so that members of the public can come forward with useful information that can help the Police fish out the hoodlums and where they are keeping the arms being used.

The Police Commissioner while commending Bayelsans for the support given to the Command since his assumption of duty which has helped greatly in the fight against crime said in line with the zero tolerance for crime and criminality of the Governor Henry Seriake Dickson administration vowed that the Police would flush out criminals in the state.

According to him the Police/ Community relations and synergy with Bayelsans would ensure the success of the Whistle Blowing policy to expose hidden arms and ammunition in the state.

Meanwhile the Police have reiterated its determination to ensure to apprehend the killers of a desk editor of Bayelsa state owned Radio station, Glory FM, Mr Famous Giobaro.

Investigations revealed that the Police are working on a lead which the crack team of detectives assigned to the case are keeping to their chest in order not to jeopardise the investigations.

Sources at the Bayelsa  Command said the Police Force headquarters are following the progress of the case which made the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Training and Development and DIG in charge of South- South, Mr Emmanuel Inyang during his visit to Bayelsa to commiserate with the Nigeria Union of Journalists( NUJ) and assured that the Police would get to the root of the incident and bring the killers to book.
