The Ningi Local Government Veterinary Clinic in Bauchi State has vaccinated about 10,000 cattle against Contagious Borine Pleuro Pneumonia (CBPP) in the council.

The Officer in-charge of the clinic, Dr. Salihu Isa, disclosed this in an interview, in Ningi, on Wednesday.

He recalled that the state government had earlier donated 1,000 doses of CBPP vaccine to the council to enhance productivity of livestock in the state.

‘‘The Bauchi State Government earlier provided 1,000 doses of the vaccine to prevent kidney and liver diseases in animals.

‘‘Due to public enlightenment campaign, the leader of the herdsmen in the council requested for more CBPP and Paste des Petit Ruminant (PPR) vaccines so that all animals in Burra, Bulma and Kudun Yarima wards will be vaccinated.

‘‘Since the commencement of the exercise three weeks ago we have vaccinated10,000 cattle in the council, including those on transit because Ningi has a cattle route, and there is need to prevent any outbreak,’’ he said.

The officer in-charge commended the state government for its commitment to protecting animals in the council.

Isa said that the exercise would go on to prevent any outbreak of the disease as animals from other states come in contact with those in the local government. (NAN)
