The Managing Director, Wingoes International Company Limited, Ngozi Emechebe, has said that International Trade Fair base of the Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association (ASPAMDA) plaza has created over 30,000 jobs for Nigerians to earn their living.
“Imagine the market being closed down for one day or traders taking to the streets; the governor of Lagos State would not only have goose pimples, the families of that population would equally starve,” he said.
Emechebe, who spoke in his office at the complex said the plaza has equally supported the state and Federal Government’s economies.
His words: “The Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from the market to the Lagos State coffers is quite huge and we have not seen the state’s presence within the market community. We need good access roads in and out of the market as well as pipe borne water. Governor Ambode should visit the market to access what he can do to add value to the infrastructure already built by the union.”
He noted that since ASPAMDA was commissioned 16 years ago, it has contributed immensely in boosting the state and federal economies, adding that ASPAMDA arguably is the best-organised trade union.
