Salma Khatun, captain of women’s T20 Asia Cup winning Bangladesh cricket team, and its member Rumana Ahmed have been accorded a reception in Khulna, reports UNB.

At the reception held at the deputy commissioner office on Thursday noon, the female cricketers were welcomed with bouquets by deputy commissioner Amin-ul-Ahsan.

They were also given cash money at the programme.

Four members of Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team — Salma Khatun, Rumana Ahmed, Jahanara Alam and Ayasha Rahman — hail from Khulna.

Although the latter duo was also scheduled to get the reception, they could not attend the programme as they were out of Khulna.

Bangladesh clinched the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup beating six-time champions India by three wickets in the final in the last-ball thriller on 10 June.

The cricketers returned home the following day with their maiden Asia Cup T20 trophy.
