Arsenal monitored proceedings, as the Super Eagles were held to a goalless draw in a physical international friendly at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Tuesday evening.
The Gunners have hailed the performance of their number seventeen Alex Iwobi who was deployed as a playmaker against the Cranes despite the fact he didn’t get on the score-sheet and was not directly involved in any goal.
It was another Arsenal product, Semi Ajayi that caught the eye on his home debut for the Super Eagles, with his timely interceptions inside his box and rock-solid performance at the back.
In their review of the meeting, Arsenal wrote on their official website: ”Alex Iwobi played 75 minutes of Nigeria’s goalless draw in a friendly with Uganda.
”Our 22-year-old winger was lively throughout, but he couldn’t stop the Super Eagles from firing a blank for the first time in six outings.”
Iwobi is expected to resume training with Arsenal in the coming days ahead of their Premier League fixture against Jordon Ibe’s AFC Bournemouth on Sunday.
