It was all glam, style as the Association of Professional Party Organisers and Event Managers of Nigeria, (APPOEMN), held its 2018 annual industry conference. This year’s event themed ‘Collaboration’,  which was held, in Lagos.

The event brought together the stakeholders in the industry from both Nigeria and abroad.

Their colleagues from Ghana and new members from other parts of the country such as Ondo, Port Harcourt and Warri  graced the occasion.

It was an “Alter Ego” event with a lot of entertainment such as music and dance. The decoration was a top notch as was expected from professionals in different fields who came together to organise the event.

In the build up to the event, which took the members three months to organise, APPOEMN held a nomination party where 200 nominees were revealed for the 35 different category awards.

The awards were presented to the best in the industry during the dinner night.  Among the winners were Alaga Iyawo who got the Traditional Wedding Proper category, DJ Spino clinched the DJ category, while Tiwa Savage went home with the Music Artist of the Year award, among others.

President of the organisation, Ms Gbemisola Ope described APPOEMN as the regulatory authority for the events industry in Nigeria, which also ensures that the members are well trained to operate properly in the industry.

“APPOEMN is an association with a mix of seasoned event professionals that have been at the forefront of event planning and coordination in Nigeria for the past 15 years.

“The mission of the association is to educate, advance, network and promote the events industry and its network of professionals along with related industries.

“The association also aims to give security, peace of mind to clients that our event planners are certified, monitored and accredited by the association to provide excellent service”.

Also speaking, APPOEMN Public Relations Director, Bose Abisagboola, stated that event management is an industry that employs the largest number of graduates in Nigeria, spanning across the fields of music, comedy, entertainment, information and communication technologies, catering and other service providers in the industry.

“The industry has continued to contribute to the Nigeria’s economy directly as well as provide employment for Nigerians, who can be gainfully employed in the different fields of the economy,  contributing over 50 billion dollars to Nigeria’s economy annually”, Abisagboola said.

Presenting the association’s executive members to the audience, the President, Ms Ope disclosed their plans for the next two years.

“The main focus of the association’s executive for the next two years include networking/ interactive sessions, education, public relations, and entertainment for our current members, perspective members, vendors, business partners, and clients”

She gave assurance that the intention of the new executive team is to grow the association without limits.

“We will stay focused as a benefit to our members/clients and also stay current with industry standards and requirements”.
