From Noah Ebije, Kaduna

Former Governor of the old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa has said that ongoing moves to form a mega party by some politicians ahead of 2019 general elections would mean that the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), and one of the leading opposition parties in the country, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have both failed Nigerians.

Balarabe, who is the National Chairman of People’s Redemption Party (PRP), added that his party could serve as an alternative to the mega party if politicians must pull out to form a common front in the name of mega party for the next general elections.

Reminded that there is near comatose state of the opposition parties in the country,  which means that the mega party would revive the fortunes of the opposition and bring the ruling APC to check, Balarabe Musa said, “mega party will rather bring confusion, throw the country backward both politically and economically.

“It also means that APC and PDP have failed Nigerians woefully over the years, and what difference will mega party make that the other parties have not made in our political system. This is a signal that there is frustration in APC, PDP and other parties where people want to come together to cause confusion.

“I think the alternative to mega party is my party, People’s Redemption Party (PRP). I am saying this not because I belong to PRP, but it has what it takes to salvage this country.

“PRP has been there since in the 70s with a social ideology similar to that of Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU), we are basically fighting for the masses, the downtrodden in the society.

“I think politicians just like to associate with big and reigning platforms. No doubt about it, but this mega party will be mega confusion at the end of the day, and I don’t think that majority of Nigerians will be comfortable with the mega party”.
