The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has threatened to hand out stiff sanctions to aggrieved members seeking redress in law courts instead of exploring the party’s resolution mechanism.
APC governorship aspirants from Imo state, Uche Nwosu, Rivers; Senator Magnus Abe, Oyo; Adebayor Shittu, among others, have dragged the party to court over issues arising from party primaries.
However, rising from a meeting which stretched for several hours at the secretariat in Abuja, yesterday, the NWC frowned at some party members who see litigation as a way of addressing their perceived grievances.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the APC said:
“This growing trend is viewed by the party as manifest indiscipline. The actions, it should be noted, are considered as anti-party as it goes against our party’s constitution… Aggrieved members are urged to take full advantage of the reconciliation committees the party has just put in place…”
