Okey Sampson, Aba

Member of Board of Trustees (BoT) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Benjamin Apugo, has called for a peaceful conduct in tomorrow’s ward congress of the party in the state.

He commended the former governor of the state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, for his contributions towards the growth of the party in Abia.
Speaking with newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, Apugo said as one of the leaders of the party in the state, he has a duty to make sure the congress goes on smoothly without chaos. He advised those contesting for positions on the platform of the party in the state not to be involved in any form of thuggery or violence.

“As one of the leaders of the party in this state and the man who almost registered every personality who joined this party, I have a duty to make sure the congress goes smoothly. There will be no thuggery, everything should be done quietly; those who will emerge will become the officers for the state.”

Apugo, who expressed optimism that the congresses will make APC stronger, not only in Abia, but the country as a whole, urged party members to be thorough in choosing those who will represent them at various levels of the party’s leadership.
He stressed that there are some in the state working committee (SWC) of the party who have performed abysmally and should not be allowed to return, while those who performed well are supposed to be returned.

“There will be no imposition of candidates or impunity. Those who are doing well, we will ask them to continue, but, those who are not doing well, we be voted out,” he assured.

Apugo commended Kalu for his efforts in seeing that APC is strong in the state and urged others to emulate him, so as to move the party forward.

He expressed dismay over the court case instituted against the Chief Donatus Nwankpa-led SWC of the party in the state, by Chief Ikechi Emenike and urged him to withdraw the case from court in the interest of the party.
