There is palp[able tension now in Ondo State over the silence of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) on the appointment of key political office holders since he assumed office penultimate Friday.

Governor Akeredolu, who was sworn in as the sixth governor of the state, has not made any appointment, a situation which is causing serious worry among the people, especially politicians of the All Progressives Congress (APC) extraction.

Many had thought that Akeredolu would appoint the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the Chief of Staff (Cos) and Chief Press Secretary (CPS) immediately he was sworn in as Governor.

However, the governor disappointed many people including members of his party as he failed to make any appointment.

The APC in the state was divided into two factions shortly after the governorship primary election that produced Akeredolu and members who belong to the Akeredolu’s faction had thought that they would be considered for political appointment as soon as their candidate wins the election.

For the position of the SSG, two persons were speculated to be the choice of Akeredolu and they are the former Deputy Chairman of the party, Mr. Ade Adetimehin and a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Ife Olowookere.

But Akeredolu was yet to make his choice known, and this it was gathered has caused internal wrangling within the ruling party in the state.

Also, the governor has failed to appoint the CPS and there was no official spokesperson for him since he assumed office as the Governor of the state.

Although many people within the party (APC) claim to be the spokesperson of the Governor, the Governor was yet to formally appoint any individual as his spokesperson.

It was gathered that some politicians have resumed into various offices at the Governor’s office since the Governor commenced work last Monday, but they were not sure of their nomenclature.

However, a source within the APC in the state hinted that the Governor may make some appointments next week, adding that “no one is sure of the exact time he will announce his appointments, but we are likely going to know the SSG, Cos AND cps by next week.”
