Board of Trustees (BoT) member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has debunked the rumour making the rounds that he is in a running battle with Governor Willie Obiano over alleged comments to sack some commissioners if he wants to return in 2017.
In a statement yesterday, the Ogirisi Igbo said those peddling the rumour are enemies of progress, bent on destroying a good relationship.
Ezeonwuka said he has been a major campaigner for the governor’s second term, based on the good work he (Obiano) has been doing in the state.
“With a sense of responsibility and statement of facts, I wish to reaffirm, unequivocally, my support for the policies, vision and achievements of Governor Willie Obiano. He has excelled and surpassed other governors, hence, he has, deservedly, won local and international awards as Nigeria’s Governor of the year.
“As a practical show and proof of my support, my hometown of Akpo will proudly host the governor and offer our endorsement for a second term. I am one of the devoted and committed political operatives of APGA and the APGA government. I understand that the pressures and manoeuvres ahead of 2017 are on and mischief-makers are cooking up stories via the social media and other outlets to manufacture tension in the APGA family. I want them to get one thing straight. They have failed.”
“As politicians and activists desperately plot for their selfish goals and self-serving interests, they should always keep the best interests of Anambra ahead of all. Governor Obiano has done that.
“Finally, I am in harmony with the Obiano working spirit of giving Anambra good governance.
“Let everyone know that as Ogirisi Igbo, I state that there is no vacancy next year at the Awka lodge. And, the spirit of those Biafra war heroes whom he gave a befitting government burial shall defend and protect Obiano, the governor of all governors.”
