As part of steps to ensure stability in the state civil service, Nasarawa State governor,  Umaru Tanko Almakura yesterday suspended the four year tenure ships policy for permanent secretaries in the state civil service with immediate effect.

The governor, who gave the directive in Lafia while swearing in members of the state judicial service commission, and a permanent secretary into the state civil service, warned them not to involve in partisan politics.

Almakura,  who described permanent secretaries as dangerous specie in the service, noted that since the coming on board of his administration almost seven years ago, he has not appointed a permanent secretary outside the state civil service.

He pledged his unalloyed support to the ongoing urban renewal projects spread across the state, adding that his administration is committed and determined to leave the  state better than he met it especially in the areas of urban renewal and physical planning and others.

To ensure the safety of the environment in the areas of arbitrary falling of trees and bush burning, he disclosed that his administration had employed 1500 youths in addition to committing  N3m as counterpart funding for the United Nations emission for deforestation and degradation in the state.

The governor, who  had earlier received reports from various committees he set up three months ago,  promised to study its recommendations and act appropriately.

Those inaugurated as members of the state judicial service commission were Mohammed Zakari, Abachie Koto and Mohammed Ohiko,  while Mohammed Sani Bala was inaugurated as  permanent secretary.
