Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has, again, warned Fulani herdsmen in Yorubaland against attack on members of their host communities. OPC threatened that further attack on Yoruba people portends serious danger to the nation’s continuous unity.
National Coordinator of the OPC, Otunba Gani Adams who delivered the 2016 Democracy Day lecture of the Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) yesterday, said Fulani herdsmen have done more havoc to Yorubaland than any other terrorist group.
He also said that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has failed in its responsibility to provide adequate security to the citizenry with the incessant attacks by the herdsmen.
The president, he said, being Fulani ought to call the herdsmen to order in the interest of peace, unity and continuous co-existence of all ethnic groups in the country.
The OPC boss, who frowned at the level of insecurity in the country, stressed the need for the Buhari’s administration to implement the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference, saying the recommendation proffered solutions to most of the problems confronting the nation.
He blamed the Federal Government for the insecurity pervading the nation, just as he attributed the development to insensitivity on the part of the government.
