AfroBasket 2015 bronze winner Ndidi Madu and Turkey based Aisha Mohammed led five other players from the Orlando, Florida camp of the D’ Tigress to Nigeria where they have joined up with no less than 15 holidaying and domestic league players in Lagos ahead of the AfroBasket Women 2017.

Officials of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, led by Col. Sam Ahmadu (Rtd) and Chimezie Asiegbu Secretary General were at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport to receive the players that were accompanied by Team manager and former national team captain Mfon Udoka.

The other players that were on the Delta Airlines flight were Adaeze Alaeze, Ezinne Kalu, Cecelia Okoye and Ugo Nwaigwe.

The players who have been given a day’s rest teams up with players in the Nigerian Camp which include; Adaora Elonu, Sarah Ogoke, ChiomaUdeaja, Tina Odion, Upe Atosu, Nkechi Akashili and others from where the final team will be selected for the AfroBasket 2017 in Mali.

Also expected is the team’s Player Development Manager, Mactabene Amachree while Joyce Ekworomadu, andEvelyn Akhator who plays in the WNBA will join the team later.

The full team will train at the Indoor Sports hall of the National Stadium Monday morning and would play a series of tune up matches with home based clubs before departure, on 16th of August for Bamako.
