FORMER Super Eagles defender, Chikelue Iloenyosi has tipped Nigeria to beat Egypt silly in the AFCON 2017 back to back qualifiers.
Iloenyosi told Daily Sunsports yesterday that the Eagles will not only win the Kaduna first leg billed for this Friday, but also get the maximum points in the April 29 return leg in Alexandria.
The former Rangers International of Enugu Defence ace pointed out that his optimism stepped from the way Samson Siasia had gone about the task of prosecuting the games since been handed the task and the fact that virtually all the players called up for the tie were determined to do the country proud, coupled with their current forms in their various clubs.
“Siasia has started well with the home boys. He is a coach that knows how to rise to a challenge, especially when the stakes are high. Our boys are also fired up for this one and a good number of them are in top form. You can see that Mikel is doing well in Chelsea. Odion Ighalo is hot and the new kids on the block, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi are in good shape. I see Egypt falling here and in Alexandria,” Iloenyosi said.
Iloenyosi however urged Nigerians to back the team with prayers, even as he urged Kaduna fans to cheer the team right from the very blast of the referee’s whistle until the goals start pouring in.
“Nigerians should support the team with prayers. The fans have to also cheer and cheer even if the goals are not coming. That is what the boys need to be fired up and bang in the goals,” he said.
