Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina on Monday paid an unscheduled visit to the international headquarters of the Nigeria Football and Other Sports Supporters Club on Ayinde Giwa Street, Surulere, Lagos to commiserate with body over the deaths of coaches Shuaibu Amodu and Stephen Keshi.
Adesina also used the occasion to sign a condolence register opened by the Club for the two departed coaches.
“It’s sad that within a space of five days, Nigeria lost two very important football coaches. I know how the football community feels at this moment and sympathise with you. We pray that they rest in peace.”
The Presidency according to Adesina appreciates the efforts the Club puts in supporting football in Nigeria noting that President Buhari will be willing to partner with the Club in their activities.
Earlier in his welcome address, President General of the club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo thanked him for finding out time from his busy schedule to visit the club just as he solicited for Federal Government support as the Club prepares to travel to Brazil later in the year for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Meanwhile, members of Nigeria Football and other Sports Supporters Club have expressed shock over the death of former Super Eagles coaches, Stephen Keshi who died on Tuesday June, 7 2016 at the age of 54 and Shuaibu Amodu at the age of 58 on Saturday.
In a statement issued by the club and signed by its President General, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, it said the news of Keshi and Amodu’s death came to the club and they are yet to come over it.
