Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa attacks a police Sergeant attached to him (Speaker) over issues connected to the payment of duty and food allowances.

The police officer, is said to have approached the Speaker to complain over nonpayment of the said allowances but was greeted with blows from his principal who felt insulted by the complain.

The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) , DSP Othman Abubakar, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Yola.

Othman said that  the Area Commander in charge of Yola Area Police Command was handling the matter, as his office is still gathering details with regards to the incident.

An eyewitness who pleaded for anonymity confirmed to pressmen that  the police Sergeant was among the policemen attached to the Speaker and that he complained about the nonpayment of his duty and food  allowances.

Angered by the complaint,  the Speaker descended on the policeman, who had to rescued his civil Defence counterpart.

“The dazed Sergeant was rescued by a civil defence man who had to remind the speaker that he was beating up a policeman,” the eye witness said.

“You know, speaker is a hot tempered person and one need to know how to approach him on sensitive matter like this.

“The sergeant needed to have followed due process in forwarding any complain to the speaker”,.

Attempts to get the Speaker or his team to speak on  the matter proved abortive.
