Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi his counterpart in the Aviation ministry, Sen. Hadi Sirika, are currently being grilled by the Senate over reported planned closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The upper chamber, on Tuesday, kicked against the planned closure of the airport for repair works on its runway and the diversion of flights to the Kaduna airport.

The Senate had followed up with a summon issued to Amaechi, Sirika, Minister of Works, Housing and Power, Babatunde Fashola; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar and heads of aviation agencies, to explain the rationale behind the move.

Two notable minister were, however, not in the Senate as at time of filing this report.
