All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold a mega rally tagged “Mother of all rallies,” in Umuahia, Abia State, next month, to present numerous new members to the public.

The aim of the rally, according to the party, is to sensitise the people of the state on the need to be in the mainstream of Nigerian politics.

President Muhammadu Buhari, his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and other chieftains of the party across the country are expected to be at the rally.

Prominent among those billed to be presented to the public include former two-term governor of the state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, Chief Chidi Onyeukwu Ajaegbu, immediate past president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Dr. Sampson Uche Ogah, who is also the chief executive officer of Masters Energy and former Abia PDP governorship aspirant in the 2015 election, managing director of defunct Hallmark Bank and brother to former Senate President, (Adolphus Wabara), Sir Marc Wabara.

Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Benedict Godson, made these known when he spoke with newsmen in Umuahia, after the inauguration of the party’s Contact, Mobilisation/Rally Committee.

He said with the rally, the party would woo more supporters ahead of the 2019 general election.

Earlier, while inaugurating the committee, state chairman of the party, Donatus Nwankpa said the party’s doors are wide enough to accommodate others who may want to join the party, even after the rally.

Nwankpa recalled how the immediate past government in the state barred President Buhari from making use of public facilities during the campaigns and the use of state’s machinery to frustrate efforts of founding fathers of the party in the state to reach out to people in 2015. He however said the time has changed.

He restated that the party would not zone the governorship position in the state to any zone, stressing that the party, through an open and credible primaries would present candidates who are willing to serve Abians and deliver dividends of democracy.

The state chairman expressed optimism that with the calibre of people in APC presently, the party was going to produce the next Abia governor.

Deputy Chairman of the committee and deputy chairman of the party, Chief Ogumka Adiele promised they would put in their best to ensure the success of the rally.
