However, unlike Abiola whose last place of abode can be traced to the Aguda House, there are still conflicting reports on where Abacha breathed his last.
For Abacha, as the cause of his death is still shrouded in mystery, so the place of death. Some said he died in House 7 one of the guest chalets in the Presidential Villa. That place is now used for meetings once in a while. Another theory says he died in Defence House which is now the residence of president-elect. Yet, another version says he died in House 10 one of the guest chalets not too far from House 7. Unlike House 7, which is popular among villa staff and those who frequent the villa for meeting, House 10 is not as popular.
The different versions only confirmed the secrecy with which military men normally conduct their affairs.
Former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, had told a Lagos High Court that he was in possession of video and audio evidence on how Abacha and the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola, “were murdered”.
