From WOLE BALOGUN, Ado-Ekiti

Chairman of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, and former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, both believe that only the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can rescue Nigeria from its myriad of problems as the nation moves closer to another general election in 2019.

The two PDP chieftains thus called on all party members to close ranks and rebuild the party so as to win the 2019 presidential election.

In a statement made available to journalists, on Monday, in Ado-Ekiti by Fayose’s Special Assistant on Communication and New Media, , Lere Olayinka, the governor was quoted as saying that it must have been clear now to Nigerians that the ruling Al Progressive Congress (APC), has nothing positive to offer except hunger and deception. So, leaders of our great party are urged to come to the rescue of the nation by urgently waking up the sleeping giant (PDP).

The statement read in part: “Falling is not unusual but remaining in falling state is admittance of perpetual defeat.  PDP is a sleeping and not a dead lion. We have the best and established  structure which needs only reactivation by putting all hands on deck. It is a phase we can overcome even as the APC ruling  government has not impressed Nigerians rather they have impoverished the nation by their cluelessness.”

Earlier, Governor Fayose had received former Minister of Information, Prof Jerry Gana and former governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos State, Mr Jimi Agbaje, who visited the governor at his Lagos residence to congratulate him.
