The Nasarawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has promised to support former Kaduna State governor, Ahmed Makarfi, to pick the 2019 presidential ticket of the party.

Chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Francis Orogu, gave the assurance, on Wednesday, at the state’s party secretariat when Makarfi visited the party as part of his presidential consultation across the country.

He said the support was necessitated given the role Makarfi played in bringing the party back to limelight.

He assured Makarfi that the party in the state has great respect for him due to the leadership he has provided in stabilising the party.
Orogu also said that the delegates of the party in the state would not only support Makarfi, but would also mobilise for him.
Earlier, the presidential hopeful, who is the immediate past chairman of the national caretaker committee of the party, said the visit was to consult with leaders of the party on his intention to contest for 2019 election.

He said that he has decided to join the Presidential race because he has the experience to bring the country out of it’s present woes.He added that if elected as President in 2019, he would generate employment to the youths, eradicate poverty and address the current security challenges among others.
According to Makarfi, “I have made serious impact in all the offices I held in the past, as a Banker, Commissioner, Governor, Senator and Caretaker Chairman of our great party.

“So, since I was able to stabilise PDP in its worse trying moments, I can equally selvage the country in this trying moment if elected as President,” he declared.
He, therefore, appealed to PDP delegates to vote for him in order to fly the party’s flag in 2019 general election.
