A close ally of the Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa State, Arch. Shehu Tukur, has declared his intention to run for the governorship race of the state come 2019, adding that he would surely succeed the incumbent.

Arch. Tukur, who is the chief project consultant to the state government, told the All Progressives Congress (APC) state working committee, on Wednesday, at the party’s secretariat, in Lafia, that he was at the state office to familiarise himself with the party officials and inform them of his intention to go round the entire state to solicit their support for his ambition.

According to him “My desire to run for the governorship is to serve the people of the state, I want to make serious impact if given the opportunity, I don’t deal with failure and I don’t think I will ever fail in my life

“As you are aware, INEC yesterday release guideline for 2019 general elections and I’m in APC secretariat to inform them about my aspirations and my intention to visit all the 13 local government areas of the state to canvass for support.

“The governor has done so much and development is a continuous process, I intend to build on where he has stop, I want to sustain his legacies in Nasarawa State”

Receiving the governorship aspirants at the party secretariat, APC state chairman Hon. Philip Shekwo said that the party leadership in the state will not take it likely with any aspirant threatening party officials with his ambition, he called on them to play the game according to the rules.

He assured that the party would ensure a level-playing field for all aspirants contesting under its platform in the state.
