The All Progressives Grand Alliance Party (APGA) in Anambra State, has ruled out imposition of ‘anointed candidates’ during primaries ahead of the 2019 general elections in the state.

The party Chairman in Idemili South Local Government Area, Chief Felix Obunadike made this disclosure, on Thursday, while reacting to speculations in some quarters that the APGA leadership may have gotten anointed candidates for Idemili South House of Assembly.

Obunadike said a level playing ground has been assured for all aspirants while anyone that emerges winner during the primaries will enjoy the support of all.

To buttress his point, he urged an aspirant to the Anambra State House of Assembly who wants to represent Idemili South constituency, Deacon Okolo Ikechukwu Okadigbo, who came to inform the party members of his intension, not to be disillusioned by the rumour.

“We treat everybody equal, I stand by my word and anybody who wants to be anointed should look for some other place like in APC where Rochas Okorocha has anointed his son- in- law, Uche Nwosu, to succeed him”.

Earlier, while addressing the APGA faithful, the aspirant, Okolo Ikechukwu  lamented that most lawmakers both in the National and State Houses of Assembly, always abandoned those who gave them the mandate to represent them assuring that he will make a positive difference if elected.

He commended Governor Willie Obiano for his infrastructural development of the state adding that he has touched the souls of the people through improvement on security, agriculture, roads, education, among others.

According to him, people are still suffering in APGA despite the fact that it is the ruling party in the state and attributed it to selfishness on the part of the representatives of the people.

A chieftain of the party, Dr. Mike Omenugha, warned that imposition of candidates would not be allowed in the party as such drags the image of the party to the mud.
