The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has declared Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi (BOG) as its Lagos State governorship candidate in 2019.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made the announcement at the party’s secretariat in Maryland, Lagos, at the weekend.

In his acceptance speech, BOG said: “The moment of truth is here. We have formally entered the race to lead our dear party on the platform of Action Democratic Party (ADP) and my action plans for Lagos state will affect our individual and collective prosperity, now and in the future.

“ As individuals, we hope and pray to leave a worthy inheritance for our children and grand children. As a community, city or as a state, we should also aspire to leave a legacy that we can be proud of for generations yet to come.

We need to search ourselves very thoroughly, and honestly ask if the legacy we have now is one worthy of leaving behind for future generations, or if we need to apply ourselves more to ensure that our memories, as a generation, do not end up leaving a bad taste in the mouths of our children and grand children.”

“There are some, who justify and celebrate this sad beat of captivity. Some of us may have forgotten that we were not always like this. Twenty years of clever manipulation, deliberate deprivation, constant propaganda and relentless lies, persistent untruth have planted our sensibilities and dogged our ambitions as a people.

“ It is now time to break free from the yoke of internal colonisation of the cause of one individual. Which side do you plan to be on when the history of Lagos is written? Their side or our side? Join me; let us rewrite our future into one of our own dreams and reject the dreams, hope and greed of godfathers. I solemnly promise all Lagosians that I will take Lagos beyond ordinary governance.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done in Lagos, and it needs somebody with the capacity, knowledge and experience to be able to deliver on all the things that Lagosians actually need now,” he concluded.
