A member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Board of Trustees, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has described the political party as a deity which must remain in power in Anambra State with no room for any other party to take over.
Chief Ezeonwuka said this at the weekend during a civic reception organised by Federation of Old Nnewi Division (FOND) which comprises 15 communities from Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Council Areas in honour of Governor Willie Obiano at Nnewi High School, Nnewi.
The BoT member who claimed to be the spiritual leader of APGA said Obiano had succeeded in silencing kidnappers and armed robbers in  the state as he (the governor) listened to voice of wisdom and organised a memorial day on January 12, 2016 to appease the souls of the Igbo killed during the Nigeria-Biafra civil war.
He said the date must be kept sacrosanct and observed every year “otherwise, Anambra will begin to experience security challenges again and the spirit of kidnapping and armed robbery will return.” He said it was only APGA that could have a permanent solution to security challenges in Anambra.
Chief Ezeonwukaaccused the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of causing crisis in the past that nearly engulfed the state and insisted that it was not qualified to govern Anambra again.
On the crisis in the APGA, he described it as an internal problem which the party has handled, saying it would not rob the party of its chances to wine the forth coming gubernatorial election in the State.
“APGA is a deity in Anambra. Former Governor Peter Obi worked well, Etiaba worked well and Willie is working, he is doing well. Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State was doing well as a Governor when he was in APGA. But now that he is in the All Progressives Congress (APC) the spirit of APGA has left him.
The FOND chairman, Dr Jude A.P.Okolo in an address extolled Governor Obiano for all his developmental efforts in Anambra but regretted that communities under FOND were marginalized.
“The position of Old Nnewi Division in the anal of Anambra State cannot be overemphasized. About fifty percent of the State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) directly or indirectly comes from this division. Our population outnumbers that of any other division in the State, although with less number of towns because of the gigantic sizes of towns in this area. Consequently, Sir, this Old Nnewi Division always suffers marginalization in several areas especially when amenities and appointments are distributed based on equality of towns instead of local governments,” he complained.
Highpoints of the event included FOND conferment of Dike Ora chieftaincy title on Governor Obiano and masquerades display.
