No fewer than 100,000 applicants have registered in Auchi, Etsako-West Local Government Area of Edo, for the state employment initiative, it was gathered.

An official of the scheme, who pleaded anonymity, said 100,000 applicants had so far registered for the jobs.

“We have so far registered 100,000 people and as you can see, we are tiding up our work because the exercise is expected to end today (Tuesday).

“So we have only today to register people before the exercise ends,” the official said.

The scheme is to enable government to have statistics on the number of applicants, to enable it to work out modalities for placement of the 200,000 jobs to be created by the state government.
