As part of the precautionary measures put in place, following the bomb attack at the University of Maiduguri, authorities of the University of Ilorin have beefed up security in and around the campus.
Revealing this yesterday, Deputy Director of the Corporate Affairs Department, Kunle Akogun  said the university was leaving no stone unturned to protect its students and property.
According to him, “adequate security measures have been put in place and staff and students of the institutions have been advised to report any suspicious movement around the campus.
“Everyone on the campus is advised to be vigilant, even though it is only God who gives ultimate protection. But the university has ensured 24-hour security all over the campus.”
Akogun also told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the university had not recorded any skirmishes with herdsmen, adding that grazing around the campus had reduced.
Also the state Commissioner of Police, Olushola Amore, in a statement, warned Kwara residents to be security conscious. He said  there was the possibility of the Boko Haram members infiltrating Kwara.
Meanwhile, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has expressed shock over the UNIMAID attack.
It suspended a press conference earlier planned to hold after the meeting of its National Executive Council in Kano.
ASUU National President, Prof. Abiodun Ogunyemi, who announced the suspension of the press conference, said the union was upset with the blasts at UNIMAID.
“We don’t have the state of mind to do what we want to do today. We are upset with unfortunate development in Maiduguri. We learnt that four people, including a professor, died while six others sustained injuries,” Ogunyemi said.
